Minister’s Corner

Good morning and a Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mothers!!!

How different is this Mother’s Day from any of the Mother’s Days we’ve had together….? So, in spite of our obstacles in meeting with one another, of showering you Moms with gifts we want to still make you feel extra special today. We want to assure you of our gratitude and love and most certainly of our devotion to you!

We’ll first begin with one of the many prayers will say throughout today in your honor, begging God, our Father, to be especially mindful of you and bless you: Dear Father God, an old Irish proverb says that in order for You not to have to be everywhere, you gave us mothers, and indeed, in creating them, You’ve accomplished something unique and special. We ask You this day to give our mother’s a double portion of Your love, a double portion of Your grace and a double guard of angels to guard them against the attacks of Your enemy, the devil. In Jesus we pray all this; Amen!

There is another Old Irish Proverb (for some reason the Irish seem to come up with the coolest sayings and prayers, I only wish I could write them with an Irish accent,…they would be that much cooler...), that says “A Mother is one who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.” How absolutely true is that! There is definitely a special place in our hearts for you Mothers, a place that no one has access to but you. A place that remains tender and soft no matter what life brings. A place in which we find comfort and refuge. To this day I remember one of the hugs my mother gave me, when seeing me after quite a few years in the States. I remember the way it filled me with warmth and love, and contentment. It stopped time in its tracks. Whenever I feel stressed out, depressed, anxious, or disappointed, my mind runs to that moment long ago and her hug fills me once more with warmth and love, and contentment. I cannot explain it and I don’t even try to, but in days like today I wish I could repay her in kind. This day, when I typically hug Mothers, I try to impart to them some of those precious feelings and have you all feel a bit of what you gift to us each day. “There is but one and only one on earth, there is no other. In Heaven a noble work was done when God gave man a Mother.” (the Irish do it yet again)… Thank you Troy Moms! We love you more than words could ever say,… even when said in the coolest Irish accent…

This Wednesday we will meet online again for a Bible Study hour and we will take a look at some of the interesting things God told the Israelites to obey in order to protect and enhance their health.
