Minister’s Corner

Good morning to you on this October morning. Thank you for being here. I hope you started the day on a good note, but even if you did not, I pray that being here today will help you adjust and end the day on a good note.

As we get closer to winter, we witness the transformation of nature around us. Leaves turn color and fall. Trees bear their fruit and let it drop with the precious seed inside. Animals are busy collecting the fruit and making reserves for the winter. All nature is preparing to meet and overcome the winter. As I witness these things, I can’t help but draw a parallel to our boot camp, to our training against anxiety & fear, against anger, and today, training in forgiveness. A proactive preparation against a time of challenge that is sure to fall on us all, individually or collectively. We never know when winter comes, but we will be prepared whenever it places its cold crosshairs on us. We will be prepared to defeat it just as our Savior Jesus did. “Take courage, He said. I have overcome the world” (John 16:33) and just as nature returns to life in the Spring, we know that we will be victorious as well, because through out training, Jesus is perfecting us into His image. May God bless our services today and may He bless your week ahead!

This Wednesday – October 16th – Family Time & Peak of the Week

This Wednesday we will meet at 6:00 PM for our Family Time. You are invited to bring your dinner brown bag/take out and enjoy it alongside other brothers and sisters as we chat about life and faith.

From 7:00 PM we will continue our study series on Prayer with Dr. Bill. This week we will focus on the waiting of prayer with a look at the story of Martha and Mary. I’ve gained new perspectives on prayer and waiting upon the Lord from this study and I know it will enrich your life and your relationship with God.

Birthdays: Lisa Jones (18th)

Anniversaries: Jim & Dorothy Warren (18th)

Bible Break – Ladies Bible Study – Starting this Tuesday

The Ladies’ Bible Break Class will resume on Tuesday, October 15th at 9:30 AM. Our new study will be “A light in the Darkness” (so relevant to the times we live in) and will focus on Elijah and Elisha. In addition to the Bible, a study book by Casandra Martin will be used. There will be no charge for the books. We welcome all to attend, so invite your family and friends. Any who have been a part of Bible Break would tell you: “YOU WILL BE BLESSED.”

Town Hall – 2020 Planning – October 27th – 12:30 PM

Please plan for our October Potluck, Town Hall, Birthdays and Anniversaries to be held on October 27th from 12:30 PM. Please write your questions in advance and drop them in the suggestion box in the hallway.

Family Movie Night - October

I would like some suggestions about the best time and day of the week for our October Family Movie night. So far, I have a suggestion for Friday evening and one for Saturday evening. Please place your choice in the suggestion box.

Men’s Breakfast – Next Sunday – October 20th – 8:30 AM

Those of you men, willing to wake up and get to the church an hour earlier, please come. We will pray and we will learn from Tim Tebow as he passionately shares glimpses of his journey staying grounded in the face of disappointment, criticism, and intense media scrutiny.
