Minister’s Corner

Good morning and as we’ve gotten accustomed, as it is the first Sunday of the new month, allow me to wish you «Καλό μήνα» (Kalo Mina), which literally means «good month». I pray that this December will be your best yet. As we start the season of Advent today, may your mind and heart fully grasp the rich meaning of the season and may your joy be made complete by the message God’s love expressed in the coming of our Savior.

Today, as we light the first Advent candle, we will focus on the theme of FAITH. Without faith, all the other candles of advent, all the other events of the advent, become meaningless. The writer of Hebrew went even as far as to state that “…without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6). Without FAITH it is impossible to please God… and what is this faith comprised of? What is it that our hearts must express in faith to Him? The same verse gives us the clues,… that He EXISTS and that He REWARDS those who earnestly seek Him… May we, at this Christmas season, be found FAITHFUL!

This Wednesday – December 4^th – Family Time & Chosen Movie

This Wednesday from 6 PM come and join us for dinner. A few of us bring our own dinner and eat it together with each other as a Family Dinner of sorts, talking about life, faith and whatever topic springs up. Bring your own take out dinner and share this time with us.

From 7 PM we will continue to watch the Christian TV series Chosen which tries to fill in some of the blanks in the Bible with creativity and yet tries to stay true to the Biblical meaning.

Special Contribution for Staff/Missionaries:

For many years, we have had a special offering at this time of year to thank those that serve all year.  This year, the contribution will be taken up on Sunday, Dec. 8, next Sunday.

Please plan for this special offering.

Potluck – December Birthdays & Anniversaries & Family Movie Night

In December we will have the Family Movie night on the same evening as the Potluck and December Birthdays & Anniversaries celebrations. We will first meet for the Potluck at 6PM on the 18^th and then we will watch a movie.

The movie for December will be a Christmas themed movie.

Town Hall

Last Sunday I handed out some questions for you to fill out. I pray that you will sincerely dedicate yourself to this process and prayerfully help us as we strive to serve God with purpose. Please take this month to consider your answers. Papers are due back January 5^th, 2020.

Small Groups

As mentioned during my series on true discipleship I would like us to start a Small Group ministry at Troy Church that brings us together in smaller groups, better equipped and prepared to support one another as we train in our Christian walk. The first step is to identify those who desire to be group leaders. I would like us to know if you would like to be a Small Group leader. Please consider this ministry prayerfully and let me know by December 15^th if you would be willing to serve as a Small Group Leader.
