Minister’s Welcome

Good morning! Welcome to the Troy Church Gathering and thank you for choosing to be here this morning. Although it was Emperor Constantine who officially declared Sunday as a rest day in the year 321AD, Christians had already been meeting and worshipping on Sundays, according to a Church Father, Eusebius of Caesarea, who stated that for Christians, "the Sabbath had been transferred to Sunday." And so, in keeping with this custom, we too gather on the first day of the week to worship God and to thank Him for the gift of His Son, for the grace by which we live. Certainly a blessing, coming together every week expresses our connectedness and dependence to the Church, the body of Christ. So we come to worship understanding that we worship as much, if not more, through our hugs of one another, through our encouraging words and loving attitudes toward one another as we do through our songs, prayers and teaching. In fact, our love for one another is the altar on which God accepts the pouring of our hearts as a pleasing aroma sacrifice to praise Him.

Elijah Wagers request – Elijah is the young man from Rochester College that worshipped here

Troy Church, I received the following request from Elijah Wagers (if you have questions about who he is please ask Luke Beard or Candace Cain).

"I am in need of a room/apartment, for about a three-month term, from May to August. Preferably in Rochester Hills, Troy, Rochester, Auburn Hills, or Madison Heights.  I will be quiet, as I keep to myself; odds are good that you will rarely see me, though I am loyal to my friends when I get to know them. I don't consume drugs or alcohol. I would prefer a stay that costs me about $350 a month. I can help a little around the place if you need, though I do have my own involvements." My credit: 740's (can verify) My income: 1,100 a month (can verify) I work 38-44 hours per week ***Will explain more when we sit down to discuss this.***Please reply to: Elijah Wagers, ewagers@rc.edu

SOS Sign-Up Sheets in the Hallway!

Be a part of an outreach that can make a huge impact to those in need. If you would like to help with the SOS homeless shelter (June 26-July 3) see the information in the hallway.

God, Guys & Guns – Sign-Up TODAY – only 5 spaces available

We have secured the cabin for July 22nd – 24th so the retreat is ON. There is a sign-up sheet in the lobby. Space is limited (so if you did not sign up, do it). The lodging was offered free to us by the generosity of John Gresham and Mark Johnson. The cabin has a shooting range and we would have the opportunity to talk about God and being men of God, as well as shoot some guns, competition as well as just recreational shooting.

Community clean-Up – May 7th from 9:30AM

Next Saturday, weather permitting we would like to continue our community clean-up. Yesterday there were only 3 teams so we were able to clean Trombley, Vanderpool, Mirage and Ellenboro If your age does not allow you to bend and pick up trash please still come. You can pray as you walk with a younger teammate.
