Minister’s Corner

Ever since Jesus walked this earth, Christians have been meeting on the 1st day of the week to celebrate God’s love and to give Him glory for His abundant grace. I pray that as you entered this building today you made a quick review of the many blessings God has provided for you in the past week. If somehow, you find yourself at the end of a week that was difficult, I encourage you to remember that we are never to allow our circumstances to define our faith, but it is our faith that always must define our circumstances. Our faith must always be the filter through which we view and understand the world and our own circumstances, for we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). A lot of times, I think we don’t understand that this means that we actually walk by faith IN SPITE of our sight…It is the only way to be thankful in every situation. It is the only way to see God moving in our world. To do that, however, we must accept the outcomes God deems to be our best, which can be very different than what we ourselves desire. And, in order to remain faithful and respect the outcome we have to remove our pride from the equation. This is not always easy. The more it hurts, the harder it is. Today we will talk about pride and the training we can undertake to master this aspect of our sin nature. As we do that, I praise God for His patience and grace in Christ Jesus our Lord. Thank you!

This Wednesday – October 23rd – Family Time & Peak of the Week

This Wednesday we will meet at 6:00 PM for our Family Time. You are invited to bring your dinner brown bag/take out and enjoy it alongside other brothers and sisters as we chat about life and faith.

From 7:00 PM we will continue our study series on Prayer with the last session with Dr. Bill. This week we will focus on praise and thanksgiving in prayer and what are the benefits in doing so. I continue to gain new perspectives on prayer from this study and I know it will enrich your life and your relationship with God.

The Ladies’ Bible Break Class meet on Tuesdays, at 9:30 AM. The study is called “A light in the Darkness” (so relevant to the times we live in) and focuses on Elijah and Elisha. In addition to the Bible, a study book by Casandra Martin will be used. There will be no charge for the books. We welcome all to attend, so invite your family and friends. Any who have been a part of Bible Break would tell you: “YOU WILL BE BLESSED.”

Family Movie Night – October – 25th from 7:00 PM

Please join us on Friday evening for our October Family Movie Night. We will watch Breakthrough, the incredible true story of John Smith who 4 years ago was under a frozen lake for 15 minutes and clinically dead for 45. His resurrection story has inspired this new movie.

Fall Fest @ Troy Church – Canceled for 2019

My sincere thanks to the couple of you who expressed interest in helping with this ministry. However, due to insufficient interest and a lack of reaching the minimum required volunteers for the hosting of this event I decided to cancel it for this year. Be a good neighbor in your own neighborhoods, it may be the only time a year you might be meeting some of your neighbors.
