Minister’s Corner

Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!

A good morning to you and to your loved ones. I pray that this day brings you joy, comfort and strength through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

The weather channel is announcing a white morning for this Sunday so this morning I am grateful for at least three things; new life, I put my Christmas lights up before snow came and Zoom so people don’t have to drive through snow to the church building. Regardless of what circumstances we meet this morning, on line or in person, regardless of what other things of life we carry with us as we meet I pray that all of us take the time to prepare our hearts and our minds to meet our Lord in fellowship and communion. This is the most basic and yet the hardest of all things. We live in days of struggle, days of battle, deprived of the strength and encouragement that comes from meeting together we need to work extra hard at immersing ourselves in each song, each prayer and each Scripture so as to be receptive to the Holy Spirit’s work in us. Our unity is of paramount importance so let us be ONE as we worship today.

This Wednesday – November 25th – Family Time & Bible Study

Wednesday I invite those of you who are willing to come join us at the building from 6:00 PM for our Family Time dinner. Bring your takeout or brown bag at the building and have it together with us.

From 7:00 PM we will continue this interesting study of the Book of Genesis following the book Genesis – God, Creation and Destruction by Dennis Prager as facilitated by Charles.

Birthdays this week: Don Haefner (24th); Shana Parent (26th)

Anniversary this week: Dale & Nancy Ahern (24th)

Bible Reading

I invite you to join us in the journey of reading the entire Bible chronologically following the Chronological NIV Study Bible. We are at chapter 32 of Genesis and we read on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7:30 PM to 8:00PM.

Small Group

Due to my family’s expecting a new member shortly, I would like to start the small group online only at first. Right Now Media has come up with a zoom like platform that allows us to follow the same Bible Study together viewing the videos, chatting and having video of each other at the same time. I would like to start in the beginning of December with a study on Advent. As I am prayerfully seeking guidance, I ask that you also start praying about being a part of a small group or leading a small group. Stay tuned!

Offering

Don’t forget, for your convenience and safety you can still make your offering on line at http://ww.troychurch.net/give

We will not pass an offering tray/plate around. If you want to make your offering via cash or check please place it in the offering tray/plate as you exit the auditorium. Thank you.

Yousef Nadarkhani – Imprisoned for 854 days

Yousef Nadarkhani and three of his church members, Saheb (Zaman) Fadaee, Mohammad Ali (Yasser) Mosayebzadeh and Mohammad Reza Omidi, are serving 10-year prison sentences on charges of “acting against national security” and “promoting Zionist Christianity.” Yousef, 45, had spent nearly three years in prison after being sentenced to death for apostasy in 2010. He was acquitted in September 2012. He was arrested again on Friday, May 13, 2016. Yousef and Fatemeh (wife) were released on bail the same day. Yousef was sentenced in July 2017 and began his sentence a year later in July 2018, after a violent arrest at his home.
