Minister’s Corner

Good morning and a Happy April to you! We turn one more page in the calendar and are officially in the season of Spring. Yesterday was a beautiful day and today promises to be even better. Thank you God!

We are also rapidly approaching Easter. Two more weeks of lent and I hope that this experience of giving up something out of the desire to be closer to God has enriched you. If you have not given up anything, there is still time. Make these next two weeks count and give up something you are addicted to.  Do it and rely not on yourself but on Jesus and prayer to see you through and you will be amazed at the result. When you feel the craving, pray for strength to resist. Pray for God to take the desire away. This is how one gets from knowing about Jesus to knowing Jesus!

Thank you for being here today. We will talk about another name, title, by which God calls us in relationship with Him. These next three Sundays we will be talking about God as our KING, our JUDGE and our SAVIOR and the order is very important and specifically chosen to coincide with the season. Please join me today in worshiping and praising our KING!

This Wednesday – April 10th – Family Time & Scripture Reading

Please join us from 6 PM on Wednesday for our Family Time. Bring your take-out food and enjoy it with the rest of us who have made a beautiful habit of it. Non-structured, we just get together and talk about life, faith and whatever else we are led to just like a family at a family dinner.

Birthdays: Bobby Westerby (8th), Nita Sampath (8th)

Anniversaries:

From 7:00 PM, we will spend an hour together in the Word just as the Apostles and the early Church did.

2nd God, Guys & Guns Men’s Retreat – July 19th – 21st, 201.

Sign-up sheet is out in the lobby. Please take a minute today and sign up so we can figure out how many guys will be coming.

Spring Giveaway – April 13ththis Saturday from 10 AM

Our Spring Giveaway this year will take place this week. Please coordinate with Shana & bring in your stuff. We will set up Thursday from 3PM, Friday from 10 AM. We need volunteers, please come and help as you can.

RISING ABOVE SEMINAR

You may know a few people who are down, discouraged, depressed … one of those people might be you. What do you tell someone or say to yourself when negativity, anxiety, fear or addictive behavior controls your mind and emotions? We want to talk about it at the Rising Above seminar on April 15-17 at the Royal Oak church of Christ. Singing starts at 6:30 and the lesson at 7:00. Look for the poster on the bulletin board or go to www.royaloakcoc.org.

Easter Service – April 21st – 10:00 AM – 11:AM; Egg Hunt – 11:30 AM

This year for Easter we will have no Bible Classes but only one hour of worship in celebration of Christ’s resurrection and defeat of death. We will also have an egg hunt. I will make available all the plastic eggs we have in storage for you to take and fill with goodies for the kids. Please bring them back next week.

Appreciation Dinner – April 28th

For many years Fred, Barb and Kay have worshiped with our Troy family. In various ways, they have generously and graciously served this church. They have now completed their move to Carlton and will no longer be with us on a regular basis (though we do hope they will “come home” as often as possible). On Sunday, April 28th after our morning service, we will have a potluck dinner and a time to honor, thank and wish them well in this new phase of their lives. Anyone wishing to help in the planning or needs additional information contact Nancy Schroeder or Lisa Jones. Please include this event in your schedule and join us in showing love and appreciation for these dear friends who will be greatly missed.
