Godquest 14

What we believe directly affects our decisions and because of that, what we believe about the Bible directly influences our opinions as well.

Did you ever catch yourself think: "If I wasn't a Christian I would so...." especially when being upset by someone?
I have... and what I was actually saying was that if I did not believe what the Bible had told me about situation then I would just follow my instinct.

There are many times in life when we find ourselves with opinions derived from common sense or social common wisdom that actually go against the grain of biblical teaching and thus are faced with a decision.

Play a game with me, please. These are just sample questions, but you can replace them with questions of your own as well.

Scenario 1:
Your boyfriend or girlfriend wants to "move forward" in your relationship by having sex and moving in together. You know you love him or her and believe you want to spend the rest of your life with him or her.

Here are some related verses to the topic but you can and should try to find others.

B) If I didn't believe the Bible is true I would...

Scenario 2:
You go through a financial course because your budget is already very tight and you are trying to cope with all the expenses, and you are also in desperate need of  new car. The teacher encourages you to tithe (to give 10% of your income to the church).

Play other scenarios that you could easily find in our society today. Take them right out of the newspapers headlines and try to find what the Bible has to say about them.

What do all these reveal about your place in the journey and your understanding of truth?
