Minister’s Corner

Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!

Blessings to you on this sunny, blue sky Sunday morning! It is almost as a last greeting of summer as it makes its way out. Even though Autumn does not officially start until September 22nd, Labor Day is upon us in just about a week. As we prepare for the Fall Season, quite beautiful in Michigan, I would like to get in a planning mindset for the coming year but especially for the cold season when all of us will be indoors for extended period of times, once again. Zoom is affording us the possibility to be together even from a distance and although I am always excited for our Sunday morning worship, I am equally excited for our interactions during the week. As we worship today, please ask the Father to direct your mind towards what His will is for you to be doing for and with Troy Church this Fall & Winter. What is the blessing He is seeking to bless Troy with through you!? May God in Grace guide your steps!

This Wednesday – September 2nd – Family Time & Bible Study

This Wednesday I invite those of you who are willing to come join us at the building from 6:00 PM for our Family Time dinner. Bring your takeout or brown bag and “social distancing” at the building we will share a meal together.

From 7:00 PM we will continue our study of the Book of Isaiah corresponding with our collective Bible reading. By this Wednesday we should have read chapters 1 through 36 of Isaiah. Please send me your questions so I can prepare the lesson. Thank you.

Birthdays this week: Maureen Tomes (30th); Dick Martin (5th)

Anniversaries this week: Bruce & Sherry Baker (2nd)

Bible Reading – Tuesday & Friday – 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM

On Tuesday we will read Isaiah 34, 35 & 36 and on Friday, Isaiah 37, 38 & 39. Please join us from 7:30 to read God’s Word together. The Apostles and the 1st century Church were daily in the Word together.

Small Groups

The Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to most people’s plans in 2020 and especially in many church plans. I was hoping in 2020 we will start a healthy small group ministry in our congregation. We’ve started the Bible Reading, which kind of acts like a small group but the vision of a small group reaches far beyond our Bible Reading group. I currently have commitments Monday and Thursday evenings as well as every other evening of the week but would like to start a conversation and planning for a small group Thursday Evenings for when my season is over. I would appreciate some suggestion of what would be of interest to most of you in studying during a small group.

Offering

Don’t forget, for your convenience and safety you can still make your offering on line at http://www.troychurch.net/give

We will not pass an offering tray/plate around. If you want to make your offering via cash or check please place it in the offering tray/plate as you exit the auditorium. Thank you.

Community Celebration

I don’t think I really have to mention it but needless to say, this year we will be skipping the Community Celebration annual event. Please let your friends and family who usually attend this event, know.
