Minister’s Corner

Good morning. The Bible tells us that each day is a blessing from God in which His mercies are new, and His steadfast love ever present. (Lamentations 3:22-23). I know however that many mornings I’ve woken up and it did not feel like a blessing at all. This past Friday, several of us watched the movie Miracles from Heaven, in which there is a scene when a little girl exhausted and depressed by suffering tells her mother that she just wants it all to be over, that she is ready to die. As a parent I cringed at her wish but totally understood it and I know that most of us are familiar with that attitude as we live and struggle in a word of sin and decay. Another familiar verse says: “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16) and I take heart in this promise, knowing that every day is a new day and although on the outside I may just feel one day older and worse for wear, God is at work, renewing me continuously, using me to bless others, using others to bless me, and through it all helping me to overcome the world as Jesus promised. How do you feel today? I pray that these verses and our time together will change or reinforce your perspective that this day is a blessing from a God worthy of our praise.

This Wednesday – February 27th – Family Time & Small Group

Please join us from 6PM on Wednesday for Family Time. Bring your take out or home cooked dinner and eat as you enjoy good fellowship with the rest of your Faith Family.

Birthdays: Bruce Baker (26th);

From 7:00 PM, we will continue our Public Scripture Reading practice. Reading the Bible out loud is an ancient practice that offers us an example for a different way of engaging the Scriptures. 1 Timothy 4:13 - 13 Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching.

Wednesday evening drivers – Pressing Need!!!

As requested before, I would like to pair some drivers with those of our number who can’t drive after dark but would like to be here on Wednesday evenings. If you are willing & able to drive these to the church and back home, please let Manu know. I am looking for four drivers for: Gene and/or Mary Alice, JoAnn, Bobby and Mary Clary. Thank you in advance!

2nd God, Guys & Guns Men’s Retreat – July 19th – 21st, 2019

For those of you who love the outdoors, who love guns (and those who don’t hate them), this year we will have our 2nd God, Guys & Guns retreat. We will be going to Jeremy’s cabin up North. It doesn’t have the comforts of the cabin we stayed at during our first 3G Men’s Retreat but should be just as much fun. Stay tuned for more details, but I would like you to save the date and provide and RSVP, so we know how many are interested.

Nursery & Auditorium Work Day

Thank you to Charles, Maureen & Nick Tomes, Gary & Diane Flat and Keith & Lora Price for the support and help with the upgrading of the nursery and auditorium yesterday. There will be another work day on March 2nd and if you are willing and able to help I am sure it will be welcomed.
