Minister’s Corner

Good morning to you on this last day of March. Another month has flown by even though this was a 5 Sundays month. April is upon us and I pray that the snow outside is our last to be seen this Spring. I look forward to flowers and nature blooming and I pray that your faith and strength will feel a resurgence by being here today.

I get to have the day off from preaching and I look forward to hearing Pat’s message. What a treat!!! Thank you Pat!!!

How has your week been? Have you seen God move in your life? Have you experienced any closeness with Him, or life took its busy toll and you find yourself here after a whirlwind week realizing that yet again all the lofty goals you’ve made about spending time with God have been left unaccomplished? Do you feel like you’ve found your purpose or are still looking to identify that to which God called you?

Know that we have a God and Father who is love and long suffering, and although your week may have not gone as planned, His did. He is still at the distance of a thought and ready to shower you with grace and love. His promise is that those who seek Him will find Him. Take heart and keep seeking. May today’s service bless you with the answers you seek!

This Wednesday – April 3rd – Family Time & Prayer Service

Please join us from 6 PM on Wednesday for our Family Time. Bring your take-out food and enjoy it with the rest of us who have made a beautiful habit of it. Non-structured, we just get together and talk about life, faith and whatever else we are led to just like a family at a family dinner.

Birthdays:

Anniversaries: Mike & Heather DeMaggio (5th)

From 7:00 PM, we will spend an hour together in prayer just as the church of the 1st century would have done.

2nd God, Guys & Guns Men’s Retreat – July 19th – 21st, 201.

Sign-up sheet is out in the lobby. Please take a minute today and sign up so we can figure out how many guys will be coming.

Spring Giveaway – April 13th

Our Spring Giveaway this year will take place on April 13th. Please coordinate with Shana & bring in your stuff. Also, please keep an eye out and an ear to the ground and let us know of people you know who could benefit from receiving from the Giveaway Donations.

RISING ABOVE SEMINAR

You may know a few people who are down, discouraged, depressed … one of those people might be you. What do you tell someone or say to yourself when negativity, anxiety, fear or addictive behavior controls your mind and emotions? We want to talk about it at the Rising Above seminar on April 15-17 at the Royal Oak church of Christ. Singing starts at 6:30 and the lesson at 7:00. Look for the poster on the bulletin board or go to www.royaloakcoc.org.

Easter Service – April 21st – 10:00 AM – 11:AM; Egg Hunt – 11:15 AM

This year for Easter we will have no Bible Classes but only one hour of worship in celebration of Christ’s resurrection and defeat of death. We will also have an egg hunt. I will make available all the plastic eggs we have in storage for you to take and fill with goodies for the kids. Please bring them back the week before Easter.

Appreciation Dinner – April 28th

For many years Fred, Barb and Kay have worshiped with our Troy family. In various ways, they have generously and graciously served this church. They have now completed their move to Carlton and will no longer be with us on a regular basis (though we do hope they will “come home” as often as possible). On Sunday, April 28th after our morning service, we will have a potluck dinner and a time to honor, thank and wish them well in this new phase of their lives. Anyone wishing to help in the planning or needs additional information contact Nancy Schroeder or Lisa Jones. Please include this event in your schedule and join us in showing love and appreciation for these dear friends who will be greatly missed.
