Minister’s Welcome

Good morning, and welcome to the 1st worship Sunday of November. This past week I was looking on Facebook and saw a post from the Preacher in Athens, Greece that brought back so many good memories. His post was letting people know (and to some reminding) that in Greece, when people see each other in the beginning of the month, first two or so days, they don’t greet each other with Good Morning or Good Afternoon or such. The standard greeting is «Καλό μήνα» (Kalo Mina) which literally means Good Month and is a wish to “Enjoy your life in this new month”

As this is the 1st Sunday of November I take the opportunity to wish you

Καλό μήνα, in the hope that today, and in this new month, God will reach your heart anew and will help you discover even more of His love for you. I pray that today’s worship will lift you up and help you focus on what is true and truly valuable and that the stress and deceit of the world will just wash off you without a trace. God is GOOD and we come together to celebrate and to remind ourselves of that today. Peace to you!

This Wednesday – November 7th, FISH FRY & Prayer Hour

Come at 6:00pm on Wednesday and enjoy our 2nd Wonderful Wednesday under new management. Charles, Maureen, Jeremy, Shana and a few others are cooking an excellent dinner for us. The idea is from the meal that Jesus multiplied to feed the 5,000 so we will have fish and bread with some contemporary side dishes. $5 per person, $15 per family with kids & guests always eat free.

From 7:00PM, as it is the first Wednesday of the month, we will spend a time of prayer together. As November 6th is voting day I thought it would be appropriate for us to spend some time also praying for those taking office.

Birthdays this week: Gene Cowie (6th); Pamela McCauley (6th); Keith Price (7th)

Anniversary: Frank & Fran Birdwell (7th)

Fall Fantastic: A sincere Thank You to all of you who came out and supported the Fall Fantastic event this past Wednesday. As you saw, we had a lot of people from the community come through and without you it would have been impossible for me to handle it all. THANK YOU!

Rummage Sale for the Parents: - November 10thSATURDAY

Please spread the word! Instead of a Fall Giveaway this year, we will have a Rummage Sale to help the Parents with their Adoption Fund. Please bring any items you want to contribute to the church building this week. For those of you who know people who are in real need of clothes please let us know and they can still receive these for free.

We will also accept money gifts for the Parents in leu of items. Those of you who want to help (and we do need help) please come to the building on Friday and help sort, price and arrange items.

Thanksgiving Baskets – Deadline November 21st

I would like to distribute these baskets on November 25th and 26th and do need some volunteers willing to distribute as well. Please let me know if you can help with food items, cash or delivery. Thank you.

Run with the Horses – New Adult Class Starting November 11

We long to live life at its best, but we often find our lives humdrum and unadventuresome, or frantic and unfulfilling. When we go to the Scriptures to find examples of living life to its fullest, we often find imperfect, uncertain (and even unwilling) people asked by God to do something that only in reflection is revealed to be truly extraordinary. In an 8-week study of the book of Jeremiah, we will see the historical context of this prophet’s life and how relatable his life is to our own.
