“THE UNKNOWN POWER OF A SIMPLE THANK YOU” (LUKE 17:11-17) Kenny Burtch

What is the value of a simple “Thank You?” How much “Power” does it have? I’m not sure I know the answer to that question, but for some reason Jesus upholds this Samaritan in the eyes of the Jews, because he took the time to say, “Thank You,” for what he had received. OUR OWN HISTORY RECORDS FOR US another great example of what a “Simple” Thank you can do. When John F. Kennedy was running for the Senate in 1952, his workers collected 262,324 nominating signatures from all over Massachusetts.

Critical Theory and the Christian's Response

Just a few years ago, the term Critical Theory was a term known by only a few. Today, Critical Theory is ever present in the headlines and in our lives, and I thought it would be a worthy endeavor to try and explain it in a way that helps us, as Christians, to know the way it impacts our culture and what our proper response to it should be.

In preparation for Easter

The week before Easter, is known by many Christians as the Holy Week. For many religious tribes within Christianity this week is the most important week in their liturgical calendar. Some call it the Great Week and some the Holy Week, but it is the last week of the Lent Season and begins on Palm Sunday and lasts through the Holy Saturday, or Holy Sabbath.

Matthew 7:7, 8 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Old Testament Passages Good for Every Christian to Know, Part 20

Old Testament Passages Good for Everyone to Know, Part 20 by Doug Jacoby

Our final passage in the present series on key O.T. passages is found in Nehemiah 8. This has been one of my all-time favorites since 1980. I was a young Christian (3 years in the Lord), and away at New College Oxford (part of my scholarship). That year I read the Bible in the Revised Standard Version, and I was falling in love with the Old Testament. It was increasingly obvious that both the NT and the OT were profoundly important—and interesting—gifts from the Lord.
