Minister’s Corner

Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!

We are entering the week of the Thanksgiving Holiday in America and as our thoughts are directed toward being with family and great food, I pray we take this moment to start our trek toward Advent as well. There is nothing to be more grateful for than the sacrifice Jesus offered for our lives. For your life, for the lives of the people you love, Jesus died. The movie The Passion by Mel Gibson has forever seared into my mind images of the reality of the suffering of our Lord at the hands of the Roman soldiers. If you’ve not watched that movie, you should. Our generations have been speaking so much about Jesus’ sacrifice that in a way makes it lose its magnitude. We speak so casually about it that at times it just slides off the hardened edges of our hearts. Today, this week, as we praise Him let us ask that God softens our hearts again with His love and care that we may feel the delight and joy of our calling.

This Wednesday – November 23rd – Family Time & Singing

On Wednesday, we will meet in person for our Family Time at 6:00PM for those of you who want to bring their meal and eat it in the company of other brothers and sisters. This is our weekly fellowship meal.

From 7PM, we will come together to encourage one another through song. Bring some of your favorites and we will try to sing them and perhaps we can find a few we can sing well on Sunday mornings.

Birthdays this week: Shepherd Appolson (23rd); Shana Parent (26th)

Anniversaries this week: Gary & Diane Flatt (21st); Dale & Nancy Ahern (24th)

Zoom Bible Reading – Monday & Friday (this week) - 7:15PM-7:45PM

Please join us as we read through the New Testament. This week we will read on Tuesday and on Friday due to Thanksgiving on Thursday.

Town Hall Meeting

We have not had a Town Hall meeting in a long, very long while, however, as we approach 2023, I would like the congregation to have a Town Hall meeting so we can discuss the 2023 Calendar and ministries. December 4th after services. Pizza for lunch so we can eat during meeting.

Offering

This morning you can make your offering in the plate at the back of the auditorium, or you can as always have the option to make your offering online at https://troychurch.net/give

If neither one of these options are suitable, please send a check to Lisa Jones. Her address is in the directory. Thank you.

We bring our requests to you O Lord:

For those who have suffered loss: Oja & Pryludko Families, Wright Family; Clary Family;

For those healing: Kerry Appolson; Fred & Barb Oja, Linda Palmer,  Pat Zurlinden, Landon Oja.

For the people of Ukraine

“Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.” 1 Corinthians 3:18
