Minister’s Corner
Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!
Here we are stepping in a new month, the midpoint of our calendar year , and as always I wish you Kαλό μήνα (Kalo Mina) – A Good Month!
Today is a special day of remembrance, not only because we gather around the Lord’s table to remember Him and His amazing grace but because today is also Pentecost. Today is the day when in the 1st century the Church began by the pouring forth of the Holy Spirit. Interestingly enough, the day of Pentecost bears a striking resemblance to a time in the Jewish history when God made another covenant. 50 days after the liberation of the Jews from slavery God, at mount Sinai gave the Jews the 10 commandments and in Jewish literature it is written that tongues of fire proceeded from the mouth of God to inscribe the tablets, to write God’s law for the people. At Pentecost tongues of fire came to write God’s law on the people’s hearts and thus today we celebrate His Spirit within us!
