Minister’s Corner
Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!
Good morning and a good new month to you. Kalo mina. We’ve turned another leaf in our calendars and the weather is becoming increasingly warmer. I love the trees in bloom and the resurgence of nature. If you have not taken the time to see, to the left of our entrance is a beautiful white tree in bloom. I just learned that is a dogwood tree. According to legend, it was the dogwood tree that provided the wood used to build the cross on which Jesus was crucified. Because of that, it is said that God both cursed and blessed the tree. Its flower has four petals which make the shape of a cross. The center of the flower resembles the crown of thorns with bright red, clustered fruit in the center representing the blood of Christ. The white petals are also stained with a brownish color resembling dried blood drops. Each petal has an indent resembling a nail dent. The dogwood blooms in April when Easter Sunday marks the resurrection of Christ after the Crucifixion. Just a legend, of course.
This Wednesday – May 8th – Family Time & Bible Study
On Wednesday, we will meet in person for our Family Time at 6:00PM for those of you who want to bring their meal and eat it in the company of other brothers and sisters. This is our bi-weekly fellowship meal.
From 7PM, We will continue to study Jesus’ parables led by Charles.
Birthdays this week: Lucian Florescu (6th); Lora Price (9th);
Online Bible Reading – Monday & Thursday – 7:15PM.
Please make plans to join us this week for group Bible reading. This is a time ( in addition to you own personal Bible reading time), that offers us the possibility to be together in the word just as the Apostles and the early Church left by Christ, our Lord was. 100% pleasing to the Lord, I believe.
Fellowship, Lunch & Volleyball
A few of us usually bring food and stay after the worship gathering with others who like to hang around and enjoy each other’s company, share the lunch potluck style, and now that warmer weather is coming, we will also be playing some volleyball. Please join us with or without food. Bringing food is not a requirement, we would love to have you hang out even if you didn’t bring food to share.
Bible Study
If you would like an individual, one on one, Bible study on a certain subject, please send me an email at manu@troychurch.net and we can arrange to meet weekly. Space is limited so first come, first served.
Offering
This morning besides the offering plate, you can as always have the option to make your contribution online at https://troychurch.net/give
If neither one of these options are suitable, please send a check to Lisa Jones. Her address is in the directory. Thank you.
