Minister’s Corner
Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!
Good morning and may God grant you a wonderful new month. September is here with its changing colors and the coolness of the Michigan fall in the air. Temperatures remain lower, evenings become perfect for sitting around the fire and the air is becoming a little crisper. We start saying goodbye to the hot summer days and preparing for the cool of winter. The cycle of nature reminds me of the cycle of life, it reminds me that rebirth requires death, that harvest requires death, that fruit requires death. As we enjoying the bounty of the crops in the fall, I am mindful of the seeds planted in death that by God’s power they may spring to life and good fruit in the fall. We are to follow the same pattern and the more we die, the more fruitful we become, the more glorious the crops we bring at the feet of the Father through Jesus, our Savior.
This Wednesday – September 4th – Family Time & Bible Study
On Wednesday, we will meet in person for our Family Time at 6:00PM for those of you who want to bring their meal and eat it in the company of other brothers and sisters. This is our bi-weekly fellowship meal.
From 7PM, we will have a time of study led by Manu.
Birthdays this week: Dick Martin (5th); Marty Quigley (7th)
Service Ministry – Suggestions Please
The church in the 1st century was instrumental in taking care of widows and orphans. In a time when these were often condemned to a life of poverty, the church stepped in and through their charity fed, clothed and loved these people. In today’s society although poverty is not the same and government programs are so numerous that those homeless or in extreme poverty are often the result of addictions and mental dysfunctions, how is the church called to love and to serve? Where do you see our congregation making a positive impact for Jesus?
Church of Christ Care Center – TODAY
Our next worship at the Care Center is TODAY. Please make plans to attend. Please arrive at 1:45ish. Service starts at 2PM but being early is a great way to shake some hands and show a bit of love to the residents of the Care Center.
Bible Study
If you would like an individual, one on one, Bible study on a certain subject, please send me an email at manu@troychurch.net and we can arrange a weekly meeting. Space is limited so first come, first served.
