FOWLERS’ UPDATE FOR SEPTEMBER 2013Making books available by email can be very exciting! We are enthusiastic because distribution in electronic format makes efficient use of technology. We found it just about as easy as mailing out email updates. We have collected around 60 email addresses of individuals and churches and sent roughly 180 books and Bible studies to as many Christian leaders. Encouraged by this initial success, we are in the process of sending out more of Harold’s Bible studies to these and others.Among those beginning to respond, there is a positive, grateful spirit. Others have made friendly contact with us, suggesting technical details. We cherish also the friendly contacts we have made over the years. One elder commented recently, “Your patience is beginning to pay off.” With time, we’ll see whether this project is going to fly, or have to walk carrying a box of books…A leader in the Aprilia church, for example, hailed this project a good idea.An elder in the Rome congregation, responding to Harold’s article on Homosexuality, underscored the importance of this material. He said: “Behind the scenes at a recent convention, unfortunately, I heard people talking in favor of homosexuality. In Italy we see a growing tendency favorable to gay marriage even in some churches.”A young leader was so enthusiastic about Harold’s study on Grace, that he immediately forwarded it to five other believers in other parts of Italy where we personally have never gone! This illustrates the power of the printed page.Because the Italian email addresses direct our materials to people who have computers, often we’re talking to people in leadership, which means we are beginning to put our publications in the hands of leaders in just a short time!
