2 Timothy 3:15-17
"From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
WHAT YOU BELIEVE ABOUT THE BIBLE DETERMINES HOW YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE.
We all have come up to expect one thing to arrive with absolutely EVERY item we buy: the instructions manual
Life, it is much more complicated than ANY Apple device, or PC, or any camera or piece of electronics we could purchase today. Shouldn't one expect that it would come with an instructions manual as well?
In the passage above, the Apostle Paul is giving Timothy some life instructions by pointing out some characteristics of the Bible:
- it will make one wise
- it was inspired by God
- it will teach us
- correct us
- rebuke us
- train us
By its study, we will not only be equipped to face life, but thoroughly equipped for good works.
In other words, by following the Bible, we can live lives of wisdom, purpose, and impact - lives that can change the world.
During this step, we're going to explore the authenticity, accuracy, and purpose of the Bible.
Reflect on a book that had an effect on your thinking, your career, your finances, your relationships, or even a key decision in your life. What was that book, and why did it affect you?
If you are already familiar with the Bible, and have used it. What has it done for you:
- Brought you comfort
- Gave you wisdom in decisions
- Lifted your spirit and brought you joy
- Helped you understand God and His character
- Helped you understand right from wrong
- Drew you closer to God
- Told you how to relate to other people in your life
