Fowlers' Update June 2013

Fowlers' Update June 2013

Fowlers pay taxes? One activity that we did not need for June concerns potential taxation by the Italian revenue service. We have been gathering information to determine if we really have to pay taxes in Italy on money that comes only from the States through donations and our minimum pension. We receive no income from Italy, and we already pay self-employment and social security taxes in the States. Pray that we won’t have the additional time-consuming burden of more paperwork (more than we already have!)

Torre dell’Orso Convention — the Grace of God. Look at the wide variety of men who blessed our lives with in-depth studies on this vital topic. They labor in several areas in Italy where they minister as elders, preachers or missionaries. Orazio Benanti (Milano) spoke on “The Grace of God in the Old Testament”. Bob McCaskill (Winston-Salem NC.) dealt with “The Grace of God in the New Covenant.” Harold Fowler (Matelica) spoke on “Legalism and the Grace of God”. Tony Console (Bergamo) spoke on “Living the Grace of God Consistently.” Roberto Innocenti (Rome) spoke on “The Grace of God in the Church.” Pino Neglia (Lecce) spoke on “The Grace of God in Ethics and Morality.” Roberto Nolli (Brescia) touched on “The Grace of God in Evangelism.” Other practical aspects were presented by Mondi Gjoni (Albania), Lino Monastero (Lecce) and Gilberto Grimozzi (Rome) and Nadarasah Ariyathurai (Sri Lanca). Divided into two work groups, we discussed three concrete cases of how to share the grace of God with those who need it desperately as churches and individuals. The theme of grace speaks volumes to a country full of people trying to be “good enough” to make it. Pray that we may be useful in the Lord’s hands to get out the good news of God’s grace!

Linda comes to Italy. As June came to an end, Linda, our second daughter, returned in Italy for her first visit in 35 years. She grew up in Italy, so this journey is like a pilgrimage for her since leaving for college in the States many years ago. Now a grandmother herself, she is visiting some of her friends and acquaintances with whom she grew up. Pray for her safety of travel and that she may achieve the purpose of her visit. We wish to express our gratitude for your love and prayer for all of our family!
