Dear Keith,
2020 started with a ‘bang’ as we celebrated bringing in the New Year with Jared & Claudine! They arrived from the US just before Christmas and left too soon in January. We loved having family here for the holidays, and every minute of sightseeing and making memories.

Kathy’s knee replacement surgery January 6 was the next major event in the New Year. She has suffered for 3+ years with osteoarthritis in both knees and significant pain in the left knee. We and the orthopedist decided it was time to get some relief by ‘out with the old & in with the new’ surgery. She has been making excellent progress in her recovery and continues to get regular physical therapy. She had a slight setback last week with severe muscle pain in her calf, but rest and some ultrasound treatments seem to be improving that. Thanks to so many of you for your prayers and notes of encouragement over the past month!

Southeast Asia travels: Averill recently returned from a quick trip to Bangkok to connect with and encourage our Beyond workers who are busy learning language in preparation for disciple-making in that metropolitan area. Additionally, he is planning a week-long trip to Cambodia to encourage the brothers and sisters who are meeting in a small town area upcountry. Please pray for safety and good health.

Upcoming 2020 travels! Next on the agenda for us is ‘home assignment’ in the US. Except for a couple of brief family events, it will have been almost 2 years since we have been able to see many of you face to face. We arrive 25 March and will return to Thailand 10 June. As usual, we are juggling precious time with family, meeting with our supporting churches, and reconnecting with many of you…. our dear friends. (One highlight will be celebrating Kathy’s mother’s 95th birthday and Mother’s Day in Wyoming!)
